Liquid electrical tape or something else?

I found 2 small nicks in the insulation of the power window main feed wire.  They are pretty shallow and I can probably just use a decent tape around it but would the liquid electrical tape not be a better option?  Also, can that stuff be used to seal the back end of the bulkhead connectors?  Meaning, when you look at the connector, I would like to seal the ends where the wires go through.  If I can do so and have dielectric grease on the terminal end, I should be able to pretty much seal it airtight.  I'm also contemplating using black permatex rtv for that  Thoughts?

Is there something like liquid e tape but better?  I'm open to suggestions.

I've used liquid tape lots of times with no problems.  It can get messy but just mask off parts you don't want it to touch.

Hi Dino,

Be careful using RTV on electrical stuff. Most RTV's contain a mild acid that smells like vinegar to help cure it. That acid can cause some mild corrosion over time. They have electronic grade RTV that doesn't have that issue, but he stuff is a bit pricey. The liquid tape is a better fit for your issue.

I'm glad I asked!  Liquid tape it is!   :2thumbs:

Liquid tape does not have much of a shelf life.

make sure it is fresh.

:iagree:  Once you open the bottle it hardens up pretty quickly.

Thanks for the warning.  I'll hold off on using that stuff until all of it can be done at the same time.

Harbor Freight sells some under the brand name Performix a little cheaper.
I've also seen Liquid Electric Tape at Home Depot so maybe you can find it at a home improvement store Nacho.

I've used a lot of this stuff over the years on old plow truck, trailer wiring etc. including the Charger. It will last awhile once opened but the more it's used the more air will get in the bottle. It will slowly thicken. I can usually get about half of the bottle used up before it gets too thick. Sometimes mixing in a little thinner will prolong it.
