Could it be the shaft that goes through the seal is worn to much?
I am back

check the condition of the slip yoke as well,
if it has groves worn in it, from years of use, it will just tear the new seal out

is the new seal the correct one? installed right? (no offense)

don't they install like a axle seal. I have only needed to install one in 30 years, so lets say we may not be experienced in this.

68 727's have a longer tail stock. is the tranny original to the car?

There is a soft plug that seals the end of the slip yoke, on rare occasions it will leak.

Clean the area thoroughly with brake kleen and try to determine the exact source of the leak.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

The tranny was put in 1971 from the second owner it hasn't been looked at since besides me putting a pan seal in and that tail seal the kick down has never worked maybe it's time to get it rebuilt or would you guys get one from summit racing
