Spotted: Charger Movie Cars? Not for the Faint of Heart

Just a warning, the following pics are pretty graphic  :-\

Early this week a guy in the club texted me these two pics.  He lives in Dumas (about an hour north of Amarillo) and spotted the rig on his way home from work.  I don't know where the cars were coming from, or where they were going, but he got 2 pretty good shots.  All we could figure is that they must be movie cars, or used to be movie cars.  I don' really watch movies, or keep up with any "news" regarding them.  I know the few classic Mopar flims and that is it.  Just not my cup of tea.  The front is mangled a bit as well, but it looks to either be a loop bumper or a something smashed pretty  good...hard to tell with the black.  They appear to be geared towards "off road" action.  The windows seem to be lexan with trim strips to look somewhat stock to the unknowing observer.  Also don't know if those are bullet holes, the cheap stickers, or weird scuffs, lol.  So much unknown...

If you've got any insights as to what they are, or where they were filming (if that is even the case) please let me know and I'll relay the word:

Ah, thanks for the link...I figured someone would know more.  F&F was my guess, but that was just due to it being the only movie I knew of that might do that...

I forgot to mention Casey (moaprman63) said the truck went south towards Amarillo...

We have some other movie filming here right now, but again, I don't really know much about that stuff...

One of the big ones that I guess busted was "Waking up in Reno" the people got to trash a roadside park on the Happy Highway and what really pissed me off (and still does) is that one of the limbs from a cottonwood they cut off was left partially in the highway and I hit it with my front valance...the car in the left lane was a cop outside the city limits...I have since always driven in the fast lane south of Canyon haha.  That was when I was still in hs circa 2001 or so.

Ghoste

I guess the Charger would need to be set up for off road now that they are shark jumping.

I wonder how much of that thing is even actual Charger?

Just think...

We have a "Member" on here that was/is selling Chargers to these F & F Clowns.

...And attempting to round up some more. :rotz:

I got on set with the stunt team, not the actors. No worries they are not real! Just quarters fenders and doors hung on a tube type 4x4 frame. Axles are not Mopar either. All plexiglass windows and roll cage. Looked like a small 4 cylinder with single exhaust to get them around. They are thrown around by cables. Computers do the rest. They asked me not to post the pics I have until the movie trailer comes out. My license plate is visible in the pics, so I will do as they say.

Well that is a relief!  With the repop stuff out there today you really can build a "clone" car and not have to wreck one of the survivors.  I wouldn't object at all to a legit Charger being in the film, but keep it on the pretty side where it belongs...Maybe that will help ease the minds of others as well.  Wrinkling some new AMD metal tied to a rigged frame isn't as big of a deal.

I would guess, unless they film here for some reason, my friend caught them coming south from the Rockies and they were likely headed back to I40 to get east or west from Amarillo.

Really??? i thought a member said he sold a couple to them, real chargers just rusty shells, but still  :shruggy:

No real Chargers wrecked?? Just repop stuff on a tube frame??  :faint:

Thank goodness.
Looks like 'glass fenders on that heap.  :yesnod:

They almost surely used some rusty shells for the inner framework of the roof & sides of the cabin.  Same way they used to build a 1970s NASCAR, or lots of modern drag cars.

Yeah, it's technically still wrecking a "real" 1970 Charger.

There are picked-clean junkyards in the rust belt which are still technically selling a 1970 Charger for $500, too.

They have a whole rolling shop of mechanics, fabricators, camera crews, drivers, etc....they told me they reuse alot of the cabin shells if they are not crushed. And no I am not the guy that sold them to the movie company.
