Although I'm a few years (probably) from having my car painted, I find myself daydreaming of what color combo I want.

My non-RT 383 column shift '69 car was originally Y3 cream, with a tan interior and tan vinyl top. That combo just doesn't work for me. :rotz:

So far, the color combinations I'm considering are in the poll options. I will very likely NOT be re-installing a vinyl top (which makes me wonder if I should keep the vinyl top trim on the back).

I'm just curious about which combinations you prefer from my current choices. Please also feel free to suggest other combinations.

thanks!

You could put the vinyl trim back on and then paint the top in a color of a vinyl top :Twocents:

jaak

I noticed you put tan on several options, and you put F8 as an option.

What about F8 with tan interior  :drool5:

Too bad you didn't put up Red with white interior or white with red interior.

I'm in the same boat. There are lots of good color scheme ideas on the 70 Charger registry gallery.

I like the white with red interior. My Dad bought a used 66 Dodge Polara 4 door with a 383 I loved that car it looked like a cop car but wasn't. White with Red interior looks so clean. I am going to do my 74 Charger in that color combo or in Snake Skin Green with silver interior.

Did'nt vote because my future combo wast in the list.

White outside, red interior. And I'm kinda lucky that my car came from the factory like that...

I didn't vote, either. I'm liking your original combo. Very different for sure, you don't see many like that.

The R4 + tan pics are from my old car's thread here:  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,91842.0.html

Personally, I love to see Chargers with interiors other than black.  I know black is 'classic', but there is a lot of detail on a Charger interior and black seems to dull/obscure that detail a bit, at least to me.

I have to agree that if there was a choice of Red with White . . I would of picked that as well. . . .  :icon_smile_big:

I'm w/ Bill440rt in that I like the cream color.  Just looking at a post a few days ago w/ a cream 69 I believe, I thought it looked great.

How about Cream w/ black interior and a black vinyl top?

I thought about it, but there's something about the cream color that just doesn't work for me. If it was a numbers matching RT, then I would go all stock, but its non-numbers matchging 383, so I'm going with a color that I like better than cream. It's just a personal preference thing.

I might be biased but IF it was my car it would have been green :)
Black top , black stripe , black hood treatment , black interior

Certainly makes sense.  Did you consider Silver?  They look nice w/ the black interior/top.  Of the ones you listed, I voted for the red/black combo.

I came very close to adding silver to the mix of options. I think the reason I haven't given it serious consideration is because there are so many modern cars that are silver/grey/beige...

But now that I thing about it, with a set a darker wheels, that could be very nice too  :scratchchin:

If I had a 69 Charger to be built from the ground making an R/T clone, without take care of match factory colors or tag, this will be my combo:

black, on black top, with black R/T stripe ( ghost stripe ) and tan interior

pretty much like this digital pic

I love black chargers, but that color shows every imperfection. But that combo is also nice, and I like the ghost stripe idea

when i chose my color, i had the kid bring me the paint books from his work place. (they repaired wrecked semi trucks)  it took alot of time to go through all the different shades and colors, but i finally landed on several i liked and picked from within that group. the interior was to be black or white according to the color i landed on. (which either would go with what i chose) good luck with your choice, and take your time choosing. when you cut the list down, ask for examples of the prefered colors on cars to make the final choice. :2thumbs:
