Map light option

I was trying to figure out why my map light didn't work and took it out. Found out there is no connection, no light socket, and no wiring to the light. Weird, all my wiring looks factory and perfect under my dash but there is no wires run to the map light. Were these an option ? Maybe mine didn't have one and someone added it?

Ghoste

They were an option but you'd think if someone added it they'd grab the wiring and stuff too.

8WHEELER

Does it have an ignition key light? that is part of the same light package as the map light. The light
will come through the hole just above the key.

Also look for glove box light, trunk light and ashtray light.  If none of the above are present then someone swapped the delete plate for a light cover.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

RGA

Yup, there is a hole above my ignition cylinder but no bulb, switch for the glovebox light but no wiring there either. No ashtray light. Wierd. Man those lights would be nice, never thaught about it till now. Guess I got the supper base model RT

I guess another possibility is that the wiring harness has been replaced.

Don't know what year you have, but here is the 1969 light package components. Some years the components would change slightly. You will see it specifies that the components are only available as part of the package.

Someone probably just wanted to pretty it up with some bling bling.  I have some extra wires laying around...maybe

Your fender tag will have A01 on it if the car had the light package.

RGA

Fender tag and build sheet were missing from my car, sucks cause guy said it was an original six pack car but no way to tell. I am how ever interested in that extra wiring ?let me know if you have it, would probably plug right into my factory harness

Ghoste

I believe you have a 69, do you not?  There were NO Six Pack Chargers in 1969.  Your engine designator is in the VIN, it will tell you what the engine was for it.

As Ghoste already said, the vin is a way to tell what the original engine was. The 5th digit is your engine code.

I do have a 69 rt vin says 440. I was told different on the 69 six pack thing though. I'm sure you know more about than me.

Ghoste

The Six Pack wasn't available in a Charger until 1970.  In 1970, a "U" meant 440 four barrel and a "V" meant six.  For 1969 an "L" meant 440 four barrel.  Halfway through 1969 the 440 Six Pack became part of a package for Super Bees (and Road Runners) and they had an "M".
