Is it photoshop? I don't see leaf springs in the back of the charger.

I thought they were switching to a Challenger this time?

From the articles I read, they filmed 6 and 7 at the same time.  7 is due out sometime next year I believe.

7 huh?  Guess I'd have about 4 more to see until then...if I could take the torture.

Franchise ended for me with the 5th movie.  I've been a staunch supporter of the movies but I won't even bother to buy #6.  Gotta know when to quit, guys... :slap:

Yes, they are filming on the Peak;

http://www.krdo.com/news/fast-money-on-pikes-peak/-/417220/21786016/-/e0o86t/-/index.html

It would take considerable effort to get any pictures as there is only one road up and they have it closed at the bottom, so no prying cameras  are floating around. You still have access to the mountain via the Barr trail (hiking that starts at 6500' and tops out at the summit of 14110') or the cog railway. Drawback to these two methods is they purposely do not parallel the highway, so you wont see any filming unless you take significant detours. Walking around at that altitude aint easy.

no doubt I'm sure some photos from crew members, grips, car wranglers, or other interested parties will slip out along the way, such as the one above.

BTW, they estimate the economic impact of filming here to be worth $120k a day. While that does not include the film budget, assuming the film company even spends $10,000 a day filming, it is easy to see how Hollyweird is willing to trash a $30k restored Charger for a "simple" movie scene. Its peanuts in the budget of things and probably costs less than their catering bill for a location shoot.

Exactly.  That's something that very few outsiders really seem to understand about that business.  The price of some bondo'd up stunt cars is NOTHING on the scale of a $200,000,000 movie.

As for F&F #6 and #7 being filmed back-to-back, that early plan was later abandoned.  The director of #3-6 bowed out after the end of the last one.

Baldwinvette77

the 7th movie has a new director, so anything is possible, but i wouldn't bet any money on that actually being a picture of the set, theres thousands of fake/fanmade "set photos", trailers, posters, etc.

oh... btw, you do realize 9gag.com (whats written on that photo) is... um .. to keep it simple is a website of practical jokes, trolling, and other internet BS  :rotz:

I wouldn't be surprised if that picture was a legit F&F#7 photo.

That's a strange pairing of vehicles on a trailer in a rural area of Pike's peak.

And it's a strange way to build a Charger.  Who does that in the real world?  Once in a while we see a Charger unibody that was welded onto a truck chassis in the 1980s.  But that is not what's in the picture.  That's all wheels & tires & suspension lifting.  It looks like a more modern build.

Those cars being Hollywood props in a new F&F movie makes at least as much sense as anything else I can think of.

MCG recently did an article about a black resto-mod '70 Cuda AAR with a Hemi as the new "hero" car.  :shruggy:

There was one in the drive way at the end of #6...maybe that will be the vin-mobile in #7.  :shruggy:

Its possible its a photoshop job and yes, 9gag is a jokester site, but there is enough detail in that photo to be legit. That is one of the switchbacks on the Peak. The shadows on the trees do carry up onto the trailer and cars, so if it is a chop, its a very well executed one.

FWIW, this is getting semi regular local news coverage. To date, I haven't seen any news footage of activities that involved open transport trailers like that. Everything that the local media has captured has been in enclosed tractor trailer rigs. That isn't to say that once on the mountain they don't use open bed trailers, but its not like we have seen an ongoing parade of movie cars being pulled through town.

BTW, if you haven't guessed, I live in Colorado Springs, right at the foot of Pikes Peak.

Yes, it is real.  I sold them a rusted shell (for a very healthy price) that they were going to cut and make a 4x4, like they had already done to a dozen or so. Tube frame, LS&, 9" rear, etc.

I know through another member a gentleman who sold them 4.

Another one of those clips has what looks like several vehicles on wire rigs.  Probably fiberglass shells.  This doesn't bode well for the realism of the action.
