Not sure if I am in the right place so here I go.. Okay. I need help please. 70 Charger big block is VERY hard to start one I drive it for about 20 minutes continuously. It has a holley 700 vacuum secondary. And stock style electronic ignition. It will crank and crank and crank. If I give it more than one pump it floods it and makes it even harder to start and it pings like crazy once it starts. But if I just barley rest my foot on the gas and as soon as I let off the key it tries (or does) start. I know its got fuel. And the coil does not get very hot. So im not sure whats going on. And advice will be great. Thanks! It does not ping when it starts IF I DONT PUMP IT

Not sure myself but possible an ignition swicth problem. Sounds like its not firing until you back off of the ignition switch while its spinning over. Could also have some carb heat soak issues. Its not good to pump the throttle with a warm engine, thats only for a cold engine to give it a squirt of fuel to get it started. Try starting it warm just by easing your foot down on the accelerator just slightly and see if it starts any better. This lets air into the engine to help thin out the excess fuel upon a hot start. Common with carburetors. Check all engine to body grounds also. Just some suggestions!! ;D

I've had similar issues and I never pump it when it's warm but I've found that holding the throttle about 3/4 of the way to the floor works every time. As soon as it catches I let off and it goes straight to an idle just fine. Sounds pretty similar to the advice above.
