So I was thinking today. I dont even know what the differences from the R/T models to the standard SE or whatever models were (500, 440 etc...)

So I hear their was different suspension? I assume the big motors were part of that package. But what else did it include?

Does anyone have a cool web site link that might show a chart with different options? :shruggy:

Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

  :scratchchin: Lets see. :scratchchin:

1 Better Brakes in the front and with drums I use the term better loosely. All HP cars had the bigger brakes.

2 Thicker Torsion Bars. 383 HP Bars where thicker than a 383-2 and the 440 and Hemi where thicker than the 383 HP's.

3 1 extra leaf spring preside if you are comparing 383 HP car To a 440 / Hemi car.

4 Hemi Cars came with torgue boxes.

Now if you are talking the differences between 225 , 318 and 383 2 Barrels Chargers and 383 HP's and R/Ts the list gets a lot longer!

Thanks for the reply's! Cuda, that is exactly what I was looking for :2thumbs:.

Now, where can you get a set of the 440 torsion bars?  :scratchchin: I think that is why the car feels so boaty. I'm running the small block bars that are cranked way up.

I bought my last set form Mopar Performances thought a Dodge Dealership. Made a world of differences on my 69 Charger. I all so added sub-frame connectors at the same time.

And the SE has the gross woodgrain on the dash that makes your dash cost more during the resto ,NTM the leather front seats to also add extra cost to the resto !!!!

Ghoste

Well to be fair the SE was more money up front too. ;)

Don't go with to thick of front bars! I had a pair for road racing in the 70 Cuda for a while.  :brickwall:

Stock 440 bars will firm the car up but won't be to harsh.

Yea, I was thinking of running either the .093 or 1.00" bars. I believe the .093 are stock, or maybe the .089? I think the 1.00 will stiffen it up a little more and have a little better road feel. That seems to be the move over at justbbodies when I did a search for a street cruiser.

My FSM says the stock TB for the 440 and Hemi is 0.92 and my old 440 was fine (younger days.)  I would think the 0.94 from FirmFeel would be fine but going very far above that starts to harsh out the ride some.  Agree that the 1.00 bars would probably be a good option and in fact that is what I plan for my 69.

Try these I just put some on my 68 Charger R/T. They worked out great.   http://www.justsuspension.com/pro-touring-torsion-bars.html

Aren't today's radial tires stiffer than the old bias ply tires?  If so, I wouldn't put in too stiff of torsion bars.  I'd think the R/T bars or maybe the .94's would be stiff enough unless you're going into serious competition. :Twocents:

What are the thickness on these guys? Seems like a decent deal to me. :yesnod:

Edit: NVM.. it says in the small print. 1.00"

green69rt

Yeah, 1.00.  pretty close to the stock 0.92.  None of these cars ride like a Caddy so just keep it reasonable and all should be ok. Cudaken's thoughts are right on!!
