Brake pedal pressure question

Since I will be redoing the entire system, I'm not looking for a fix for this but I am curious why this is happening.  At all times the car will stop just fine but the pedal will feel different every time I press the brake pedal.  One minute it feels like a modern car pedal, the next it will go half way down to the floor and the next it'll go even further.  When I pump it rapidly it may or may not keep the pedal up...but only briefly.  Regardless of what the pedal is doing, the car stops the same and I never feel I have less fluid pressure.  I can find no leaks and the MC fluid is about 1/4" off the top edge sooooo wth is this all about?   :icon_smile_big:

To be on the safe side, I parked the car and won't be driving it until the brakes are done just in case something is ready to fail and wrap my sorry ass around a tree.  A small ding I caused myself is one thing, wrecking the car or worse is not on the agenda.

It sounds like the cup seals in the MC are tired and stiff.
Kinda like we get as we age :yesnod:

Never thought of it like that.

I have a new master so if that's the issue then it'll be an easy fix.   :2thumbs:

I agree, it sounds like MC is slipping. :yesnod:

This is purely out of curiosity since the car won't be driving again until the brakes are done but what happens if you ignore something like this?  Does it get progressively worse or will the pedal just drop to the floor one day?

The MC is bypassing internally, when this happens only one system (front/rear) is functioning correctly...not something that should  to be ignored. Don't drive it !!!
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I agree as well. When you need the brakes you need them to be all they can be. :yesnod:
The same goes for our tired stiff selves  ::) The car will only do what you make it do. :icon_smile_wink:

Not to worry, it's not being ignored.  The car is done for the season.  I don't take chances.

I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, gone for a week + and when I come back the car is going on the stands to get a major overhaul, brakes included.   :yesnod:

The next time she runs, there will be discs on that thing.   :2thumbs:
