alright i could not get to vin numbeer today due to the tight spot he has this thing stored he is suppose to have it out friday so i can look it over. however i could read the front stamp pad and it was  f 440  with a upside down c under that and 24 under that.  pretty sure the f means 70 and it is 440 but no idea on the 24

heres the numbers  2536430 8    6  21   69                       vin on engine  oc106475

While many seem to think the "HP" means something when dealing with Mopar BB engines, IMO, the "HP", or whether or not it was out of an "R/T" or not means nothing. The same exact block/crank/and sometimes rods (Save for the "six Pack" rods which are too heavy for any kind of RPM anyway IMO), could be found in a "LP" version of the 440 in grannies 4dr Imperial.

Only if your looking for a "correct" replacement would these numbers means anything, or add any type of value. Round here, 440's range from $500.00 "Runable" [NOT Locked up] or Rebuildable [Possibly locked up, but can be free'd, or needs boring/etc]..To anywhere around $1000.00 or more for one actually in the car, running and has had some engine work done.

Jefferson built Chryslers and Imperials so it could be from either.

Since your pad markings don't indicate an HP assembly....

The only optional 440 for a Newport or Newport Custom was the HP TNT so it's looks like it's not out of a Newport.
It's a LP engine so that leaves the possibility of a 300, T&C Wagon, New Yorker or LeBaron.  :Twocents:
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.
