Anyone out there know where I can find the production numbers of this particular vehicle. I have 1 in red that is being brought back to life and I have read somewhere that this model may be 1 of only 40 made with this spec? It has the pistol grip manual hurst shifter,4 speed, 340 engine. It is a numbers matching car. I'm in the UK and there are very few of these vehicles on the road. I have not seen any at the shows I have been to over the last 2,3 years. Plenty of 69s, 70s which are great but I could do with knowing how far to take this resto of mine. Do I spend lots to get if fully restored if it is rare or just get it back on the road as is and move it on?
Hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction or may know the answer.
Thanks in advance guys n gals

Perhaps post your VIN.  I believe there is big difference on production with coupes vs. hardtops.

Thanks for your reply, that thread was the one I had read somewhere before about possibly only 43 of them being built with that spec. I have the VIN if it helps anyone. Also got the original sales brochure which is a fun read!
Built for the "Take charge" driver.

2 separate sites... same answer

Hope this helps.  Seems more realistic than the 40 something
The 40 might be broken down to Rallye+Coupe?  Didn't read that thread very closely.  Not sure if you have a Rallye either from only the VIN.  Is it a Rallye?

It's pretty hard to place a number on these as it all depends how you look at the specs.  If we're talking drivetrain then it's easy enough, but you can go on and go by every single option on the car.

You may really have 1 of 40 if you compare all the options, color and so on.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

The second part if your question would depend on its current condition.  Can you post some photos?

An "H" engine code in the Vin would be a Rallye by default. The 340 engine required the Rallye package.

Also, Galen Govier states there were 396 WH23H3 D21 cars build for US orders. This doesn't take into account the Canadian or import orders.

JB400

It doesn't look too bad for how old it is.

BTW, welcome to the group.  What's the 5 window truck like toy beside it? :popcrn:

Mustcharge

It's a mark 1 or 2 land rover. We are restoring another 1 in the shop.

Are you planning on a stock type resto or a resto mod?

Mustcharge

front end tidy up....

Mustcharge

keeping her as stock as I can, missus says keep her red instead of going black as I intended.

Mustcharge

This is not the best job but it tidys it up quite nicely....

Mustcharge

Valance needs attention....

Mustcharge

new tires on and welding of passenger floor pan done.

Mustcharge

Looks a bit better now just with new shoes on her and refurbed original wheels. new seam sealer done on the floors....

Mustcharge

the rust protection is not a bad match for the exterior colour!

Mustcharge

Last couple of pics for now. It needs a new exhaust system which will be a stainless powerflow 2.5" . that was on order to be done but had a delay on the fuel tank.
