The old company, Bombardier Aerospace, makes these.  They don't 'motor around" to fill the tanks---they touch down at approach speed, open the fill scoops, add lots of power, and the tanks fill in seconds.  There's one scene in the film where you can see the two tank level gauges rapidly go up.  The other neat thing is watching the magnitude of the flight control inputs, especially aileron, as they are maneuvering down low---sometimes the pilot is literally going stop to stop.  Real flying!

One of our past members from Georgia, (I can't think of his name just now), flies helicopters  and does drops on call. He also does timber lifts in hard to reach areas.

The water planes have always done that, haven't they? Unless they're using retardant they just scoop water off a lake or reservoir.

Remember the opening sequence from the movie "Always" with the WWII vintage Catalina PBY? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkE24axSBTI

Shelley?  Me neither, haven't heard from them in ages.  I hope they're doing well.

We went to lunch with them some years ago when we were thinking about moving there.. He took me for a ride in his blown Charger and I was pretty impressed.. Pics of those cars BEFORE and seeing them first hand, WOW!!!!!  He had a charger there that some of the members here were sending him parts for. I know he said it was making him nuts as people wanted to tell him what to do and such. I don't think anyone really meant anything by it, but it was kind of burning his but... He was truly starting with a title and a radiator cap.. The rest he had to build himself.. Would love to see the progress....

Shelley was into real estate. Had a few nice cars too!!  lol..  ;) ;)

One of the last things I remember was the red 68 they got from Troy.  I sent them $100 to contribute to the DC.com car but it never happened and I never got my money back either.  There's something about this place and losing money.

I recall seeing pics of the first hemi car they did, it was a basket case.  Jonathan sure knew what he was doing.   :yesnod:

I guess they got sick of the place and left like so many, me included.  Maybe they'll return one day although Jonathan was never around much, Shelley was though.

Yes, I have to say they were really great peeps. They took us to lunch and we BS'd about all kinds of stuff. It's a shame they haven't been around, but I think they felt pressured by many on the DC.Charger. I know he did buy many parts for the car and some here donated more, but some said they were coming to help and didn't and others said they were sending funds and didn't. I think they just left figuring it easier than calling anyone out or making anyone else feel bad...

If you ever spend an afternoon with them you would know that they are really great people.. And his work is impeccable. I think if his blower car would have hooked up we would have been wheels up without a breath!!

Sure wish they would pop in and let us know they are still around..  :2thumbs:
