So its been cut up for racing?  Do you know the VIN?

Which drivetrain did this one have? :popcrn:

I think it a 426 wedge no he says it was in some stock class  the motor was stock from the factory  heads were stock  but not now they were ported and bowled by the second owner  I dont think its all cut up  I don't know how to down load pictures I can barely type  ill ask him tomorrow I only see him when I do work for his boss  may not see him for months  but ive been to his house

Ghoste

If its 63 it should be a Stage II 426.  If you can get a VIN the Maxies are a fairly well documented breed.

Well, I am not sure if this helps.

My very close friend has a 1962 Fury Max Wedge convertible.  It was the only black car with red interior and black top made.  The car is totally complete, however needs restoration.  He has been kicking around selling it.  The couple offers he had were around $20, he is looking for closer to $30.

yes it does  but I thought  with its race history it would have a value something different than a stock max wedge

Ghoste

Depends on who raced it, when, and how well it did.  Bob Mazzolini is one of the best out there and a proven winner but I would tend to think among collectors his name just doesn't carry the same cachet as say, Bob Golden or Roger Lindamood.  Its usually those guys who made headlines with them when these cars were new that draw extra dollars to a car and not someone who is doing it in the here and now.
To a large degree anyway.

If its 63 it should be a Stage II 426.

Stage II was late year '63, the majority of '63 cars were Stage I. Only 72 of the 890 '63 Dodges were Stage II.

The VIN will tell if it's an original MW.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Ghoste

Ah, thanks John, I thought it was a change at the beginning of the model year on the II's.

What if the 426 Max Wedge was placed into a 70 Charger ?.  No VIN is going to help you there. :scratchchin:

He's talking about the entire car. Notice how I inserted a comma:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

oldgold69

talked to him its not original motor  block is 68 440  but it has the original max wedge heads exhaust and cross ram he say its pushing over 500 hp  he said the only thing done to the body was someone rolled in the wheel house lips no rust  his brother checked the vin its correct  he couldn't think of it off the top of his head     the guy who gave him a price on the car told his the motor was worth around 15 grand  about 20 for the rolling body  he was trying to find out if the guy is low balling him
