I am looking to buy a trailer pretty soon and was hoping to ask you guys for suggestions. I currently have a 2008 Ram 1500, 2x4 Quad Cab with the 5.7 hemi. I do woodworking and landscaping for hobbies on the weekends. I would like to get a trailer that I could use for my hobbies and also moving auto's and my hunting atv's if needed.

I know very little about what to look for in trailers to pull cars. I found this place kinda local to me but was the only online place with prices.

Think a wood bed trailer would hold up?

I can't really comment on the difference between the longevity of a wood versus steel, because it depends on how well you care for your stuff.  But, I can say I have been renting trailers for a long ass time and the steel ones last.  A buddy has a wood one, which he takes care of very well, and only replaced the wood once in the last 10 years.   My experience has been the work aspect of a trailer is the wiring.

Good luck.

i agree. i have a wood bed that seems to last forever. my only main problem with mine has been the lights. the wiring seems to need to be changed every couple years.

This looks to be a very good site for help: http://www.haulmark.com/trailer-resources/trailer-selector/

There seems to be a lot of useful info there. I don't know what the quality of a Haulmark is however.

I have a 2003 18' car hauling trailer with 2' dove tail and a wood deck that I purchased new. Never replaced any of the wood yet, never painted, or stained   the wood and its still in great shape.  Used it today to haul my 97 Dodge truck. 1 advantage the wood deck has over the steel deck is screwing/nailing down blocking to haul different size/type cargo, and the cargo doesn't seem to slide around as much. I would get the wood deck. My :Twocents:

My 24' enclosed car hauler is a Haulmark. They are good trailers.

I also have an 18' flatbed, 2' dovetail, wood deck. I haul all sorts of stuff with the flatbed. I prefer a wood deck. I can screw 2x4's to it for stops or for any thing else that needs to be fastened to the deck. I've had it 12 years, treat the deck every other year. Deck is still in great shape.
If your hauling a full size car you're going to want brakes on both axles.
Also check the angle on the dovetail. Some of the trailers made for agricultural use have a steeper dovetail and you will bottom out trying to load/unload a car.
