68 side a/c vents

Restoring the dash currently--on both sides of the dash (passenger and driver) are vents with a metal pin coming out of the bottom to control their movement.  Is there supposed to be a knob there?  Can't find any pictures to verify.

Yes there should be a knob to control the vent flow direction....see the pics in this auction.  fairly sure they are not being reproduced
