Console Shifter Linkage - 1968 Charger

I swapped out the 318 cid engine / A-727-A transmission combination that came in a 68 Charger with a console shifter for a 440 cid engine / A-727 -B transmission combination. I reused the console shifter linkage that came with the 318 cid engine / A-727-A transmission combination. The issue I have is that the console shifter level does not properly align with the console shift position indicator.

To me it appears that the lower linkage rod that that runs from the transmission control lever to the torque shaft (shaft which runs through the floor pan to the console gear shift unit) is the wrong length.
Can someone tell me if a different length lower linkage rod is needed for the 440 / A-727-B combination versus a 318 / A-727-A combination in a 1968 Charger with a console shifter. If so, is the rod needed for 440 / A-727-B combination longer or shorter than the one used with the 318 / A-727-A combination.

Your attention to this query is appreciated. Thank you.

The lower adjustment rod is the same on a 68 for a 904 or 727, it probably is the incorrect lever on the valve body. What year trans did you put in? PM or e-mail me if you need a lever i have it

Thanks for responding. I have no doubt you identified my shifter problem. The 727 transmission I used is from a column shift 65 Chrysler. When I had to get a different tail stock for it so as to mount the shifter torque shaft assembly I should have known the valve body lever also needed to be changed. I should be able to get the lever locally but if not I will get back to you.

I really appreciate your insight. Thanks again, Bob Mitchell
