So I had my car on ebay, did not meet reserve but after auction eneded had 3 of the bidders offer more and met what would have been my reserve.
Which just seems weird why did they not bid at that time??
Anyhow, came to terms on the car, but the buyer outa of state and wants to handle through 3rd party like escrow.com.

I looked at this, and gotta say fees are high and if there is issues, they seem to side on buyers side with refunding the money.
Not my choice..
Buyer mentioned ebay? I thought they did not do transaction over certain amount.

My book, cash and get the car!.

Anyone have other options or advice?

I'd stay away from the 3rd party stuff.  You may be setting your self up for problems.  If you have agreed to a price with an Ebay member then relist it at that price with a buy it now and let him purchase it through Ebay with a deposit required immediately.  Get his feedback first before you do.  Your going to have to pay the listing fee either way so you may as well get some kind of support using them if things go bad.  He'll have all the protection he needs as long as you listed it accurately.  For a legit transaction there shouldn't be any reasons they wouldn't agree to it unless there were other motives for taking it outside eBay.  Only fees you'll get is the set listing fee and PayPal fee on the deposit.  Why use another 3rd party with higher fees on top of what you already have to pay? I did this with the last car I sold to 2nd highest bidder on it after the first car dealer won the auction only to try and negotiate lower to the price he really only wanted to pay  :flame:  Get your money first and cleared through the bank before you let the car go anywhere.  If there are problems where he feels lied or cheated then he can go eBay to get it resolved.  Nobody else needs to hold your money or else he can choose the option to see it in person first.  Just my  :Twocents:

I agree with avoiding the online stuff.

I don't know about you but I would only accept a wire transfer into my bank account. I bought my car with a wire and it cost me $15 and it cost the seller nothing.  Instant transfer of funds, you can be there when it hits and move it to a different account. You should be able to get all your questions answered via your bank's manager.

If you accept cash may want to test the bills.   :Twocents:
