Mopars in movies

I have been attracted to movies that have anything mopar in them since ever. Christine and Dual are my two favorite. But Duel remains in my mind above the others. Christine is the only one I can think of where the car is the star of the show. In Vanishing Point, Bullet,Duel the car plays high on the on the list of players. (Mustang plays well in bullet)
My mopar blinders may influence my memory. Are there other brands that have done as well in hollywood?
What is the favorite among this group?

This has got me thinking a little bit.  Does Chevrolet even have a movie car icon?  Pontiac has the Bandit and Kitt.  Ford has Eleanor and MadMax.  Mopar has those listed plus everyone's favorite orange car as well as the Green Hornet.  Lincoln has the Batmobile.  Aston Martin has the Bond cars.  VW has Herbie.  Delorean has the time machine..  Cadillac has Ecto 1.

Is Bumble Bee the Chevy movie icon?  It's the only one that comes to my mind.  Corvette Summer isn't really all that well known.

don't forget Reggie's black 71 cuda in the Phantasm series of movies   :drool5:

  and 71 GA4  383 magnum  SE

Brewster McCloud has a "new" 70 Camaro Z-28 silver with black stripes cragar SS mags. Driven by a cop. Also in that movie is a new 70 hemi Roadrunner, pistol grip, air grabber, dana,Shelly Duvall drives it and does a burnout from a traffic light. There is also some way cool Mopar cop cars in the movie and a V8 pink/red Gremlin 4spd. with Cragars on it doing burnout donuts etc. The movie is really weird, it's about a boy ( Bud Cort ) wants to able to fly.. ::) Has this roadrunner been talked about on here? and what rims are on that car? This has to be the most overlooked movie with some Mopar action in it, as it is never mentioned. :shruggy:

I haven't watched it, but that movie Transformers has a new gen camaro playing a star role.

That's the Bumblebee mentioned earlier.

Ram07

Two Lane Blacktop had a 55 Chevy I think.

Ghoste

That would be an icon and the same car with different paint was used in American Graffiti.

There was also a 57 Chevy that was well known at the time because it was a PHR project car, used in Hollywood Knights.  But the Chevy icons almost need their own (apparently small) thread.

Yes, it was.

I liked the 68 Super Stock barracuda in the movie highwaymen. It was supposedly a 426 super hemi with a pistol grip 4-speed. It had a lot of camera time in that movie.

The 'Cuda in Nash Bridges comes to mind - though that's a TV show.

"Hotrod" had a 65ish Dodge with a Hemi That got "wadded up" in the first few scenes, then the Hemi got put in a Willys to win the Rootbeer Nationals. Seems like the villan kid in the movie had a 70 442 Olds.
  Jim Rockford drove a Firebird..

we will have to check "Choke" out for the 70 Bee ! I don't like the dubbed in burnout sound that is commonly used on radio etc. it's not from that car. Looks like it gets destroyed in the jump!

71charger_fan

I like the '68 Charger police cars in "Mystery Men."

ODZKing

We have a sub channel called GetTV. And they have been running the Matt Helm movie series with Dean Martin.
This morning they ran The Ambushers.  He is in Acapulco. In the back ground is a Mexican Coronet with the Charger front grille as they were produced in Mexico.  Cool!

what about the Love Bug staring Herbie the VW beetle?  Guess I'm showing my age

My favorite car movie where the car is really one of the key features of the story is..... "The Car".

I remember being scared out of my socks in the Garage Scene!
