Well this thread has been too good to let a rusty gas tank bring it to and end.  Unfortunately, I do not have an old tank to donate.

How much does a new tank cost?  I propose a crowd funding campaign to buy Ken a new tank.

Ive got $25 towards it and I assume Paypal can be accepted!  A DC.com sticker has to be applied to the bottom of the tank as well lol

Either Eastwood or POR15 had a kit at one time to seal tanks that had rust and would make a film over the rust to basically give it a skin to prevent any rust from causing anymore issues.  Might want to check into that.  Only thing is you will have to drop the tank in order to move the product around inside the tank.

Allen, if you let me cut the filler section off your Daytona, I still have a flip top gas cap!  :scratchchin: Then Jim's tank would fit!  :2thumbs:

Dam, while I still cannot afford it, $110.00 for a gas tank with shipping? I was thinking $300.00 plus range. I think I paid $200 +  and shipping for the one that is in her now and that was 10 years ago. Rock Auto, never looked or bought there before. I wonder what other goodies they have.

Resq302, main thing stopping me from dropping the gas tank is I believe I will need some help. Car is still outside and driveway is on a slight grade. Sure not in a hurry to jack up the back of Miss Lumpy by my self! Tried it one time using wheel block and she wound up in the neighbors front yard and all most killed me!I asked about the rust trap thing (Mine does not leak) and was told the stuff is like $30.00 a bottle / can and it would only treat a 5 gallon tank?

Duane, the Charger site sticker would not bother me or Miss Lumpy! On the Pay Pal part I forgotten how to use it, been E Bay Free for 10 years now! Man, I spent $30K on E Bay but I got some cool stuff when I could afford it!

All so glad that some of you like the post. I will be happy when I can get her inside the garage and start the bodywork.

Rock auto has them for roughly $110 shipped for the cheaper one.

Just checked their site and only 4 of the least expensive ones remain, but they do have others for about $15 more. I can throw in a ten spot toward this if we are going to do this. I would love to do more but I am on disability. Who is going to collect and get this to him. Paypal can be sent as a gift, so no charges to anyone. This is the kind of thing Mopar brothers can do for each other. KEN, get that garage cleaned out and get Miss Lumpy in there, time is a wasting and cold weather coming.

JB400

I'll throw in my  :Twocents: if need be.  I don't do Paypal though, so if there's a collection being made, I'll have to do something different.  I can send money order to someone if need be.  Someone send me a pm when this is definite go.

basically it would be a simple slam dunk to just go 10.00 each. 12-15 people and we got the tank. i can take a pair of ramps over there to back the car up on to give clearance. the only problem is that cold ground. :smilielol:  if we get the tank here, ill make my kid go with me and change it. (weather permitting) :2thumbs:

I am all about helping each other out, I would be willing to pitch in and help Ken and Miss Lumpy out.  I recently read up on this thread and this is the kinda stuff that inspires me.

If they are to rusty I can bring a plasma cutter and Ken can cut them off.

Maybe throw some water in the tank before getting tooooooo close with a plasma cutter.  :fireangry:

Has anyone taken the reins in organizing this?

yea...I'm in...who is gonna head this up? I got Paypal, who can I send the money to? (someone send me a PM for Paypal account)

I was thinking the same thing..he may need a "J" bolt (or 2) depending on how many are there)

Tilar

I don't mind heading it up, but I think they need to check the straps and bolts first. I'd hate to send a tank just to find out that they can't do anything till they round up straps or bolts.

Tank was replaced about 10 years ago, so straps and nuts may still be OK. I will try to take a look Sunday before I go to work. The nuts are in the back by the bumper correct?

For who ever takes the reins on this, I guess they will need my zip code for shipping cost. It is 62062.

I just looked on Rock Auto site, the sending unit is around $50.00 for the 3/8 line. Going to talk to my daughter and she will chip in for my Christmas present. Who ever take charge of this project let me know so we can save on shipping.

I am a firm believer in the old saying What goes around comes around. Guess it was around 2 years ago a friend I meet on line in a Model Train Site Chat room was having bad times. Ulrich lives in Germany (use to live in the US) and pretty much lost everything. Use to be a CEO of a shipping company that went belly up. He is my age and cannot find a job, lost his house, had to sell his trains and he and his wife lives on the Germany version of welfare. I start contacting folks at the site and we collect funds to get him back in the hobby in a limited way in N scale. Gave him something to look forward to. A person needs something to think about besides worries.

Well, looks like it is my turn again. Guess I am just blessed meeting good people on line.

Humble again, Cuda Ken

I have been messaging Ken and I have offered to take the reins if everyone is ok with that.  He doesn't remember his paypal information and I am willing to either create one for this or offer up mine and order the parts for him.

Ken, please let us know if you can take a look at the straps and verify is they are useable. As for the sending unit, the new repros throw off your fuel gauge , is there an issue with the one you have now?
