What did you pay for guage restoration?

The guages in my 70 are original and long overdue for restoration. In 2003 I installed a repro tachometer in place of the clock.
I considered simply buying repro guages and installing them myself, but I'd prefer to have the ammeter converted to a voltmeter. I understand that this is a common request when clusters are restored.
I have been notoriously cheap in some cases, but I do spend the money when it is necessary. If these restoration shops fix and reface the guages, convert the ammeter AND check/fix the printed circuit board, maybe that is the way to go.
Any suggestions?

This is an amazing thread on cluster and gauges. He shows exactly how to do it. I even made the piece of test equipment to test the gauges for accuracy, I just need to get done with a couple other projects and get it done.

I had Auto Instruments near Martinsville, VA do mine. He calibrated/repaired every gauge, re-printed all the letters and numbers (no decals)  polished the lens, put in a new brake warning lens (red) fixed the broken speedo, odometer and the clock is better than new and all for around $630.  That was back in 2005 and I have no idea what it would cost now.   :yesnod:

I would ask moparstu. he had his done on a 69 that he sold. :Twocents:

Are you replacing the dash bezels, switches, and lenses also? Or just the gauges? If so that's where the big bucks are(bezels are $400 bucks alone). If all your gauges are in working order it shouldn't be too bad. Redline gauge works does excellent work. They did my amp to volt conversion, built a custom tach, and rebuilt my speedometer. The volt meter conversion alone will run about $125. They also will repaint all the gauges (no decals) to stock specs or whatever color combo you desire. And make sure everything is working properly. Should be around 5-600? And its a quick turn around time as well. Had mine back one week after they received it. They will also stand by their work. I didn't like the print on my tach, Shannon took it back and repainted it at no charge.

Give Redline a call and ask for Shannon. He is a cool guy and easy to deal with. He walk you through the process and give you prices, details, and options of what they will do.

Being from California, I was leaning toward Redline. I'll be in LA for the Spring Fling and I may take my spare cluster to them at that time.
Thanks!

Auto Instruments did mine last Summer and if I recall correctly, it was about 1,100.00, but they also upgraded me from just a clock to a Tic Toc Tac. It did take a bit longer than they said to get it done, but the work was great and they were very helpful when I called with questions at install time.
