Has anbody used one of the proform double pump carbs on their mopar?? I built my 440 and had a 750 holley double pumper and it was a great set up and ran great. Decided to go to a 493 stroker kit and went with a 850 proform and i've been changing jets and power valves and adjusting and no luck at all. It has a lean surge at cruising speed and if you turn it off and start it back up bout 15 mins later its so loaded up you have to rev it hard several times before it will clear up and run decent. Had to order an alternator so I ordered a new holley 850 double pumper too. Hope it works better than this proform thats on here, i'm tired of trying to make it run right.

You say "Had to order an alternator"..You sure you were running when fired back up on all 13 volts? I know my own MSD does NOT like anything under 12.5 Volts or it will load up. Many have used Proform here and seem to have had good luck with them. I'ma Holley man becasue I haven't found a Good used, ProForm as cheap as I can Holley's.

ProForm carbs are just a newer, improved version of a Holley DP carb, so If you are having trouble with it, you might have the same trouble with another Holley. :Twocents:

I run a 850 proform racing carb on my 472 hemi and have never looked back. Been running for 3 years and I haven't had trouble.

got my alternator on and swapped out the carb and I like the way the holley acts alot better than the proform. Took it for a drive and cruising around at a steady speed is much better now no surgeing or stumbling while running 50mph. Just bolted it on set the floats and adjusted the mixture screws and curb idle and it seemed fine on its first trip around the block. The proform is for sale at this point. I put the original jets and power valve back in it so it is calibrated just as it came out of the box. I have put two proforms on my buddys mopars and they worked fine for him but as my luck would have it the proform doesnt work for me. Thats usually the way it goes tho...  :icon_smile_cool:
