Hi guys

I have a chance on purchasing some apparently rebuilt 440's out of a yacht :scratchchin:. What is your info on these engines, are they any good? :shruggy:

careful, some turn the wrong way, cam & cranks won't work....other than that...blocks & heads should be the same

Cranks are not cut for an automotive rear main seal - they will constantly leak if used.

Some are opposite rotation - camshaft, distributor, and front timing gears will be weird and not useable in automotive application.

If they come out of the same boat one WILL turn the opposite direction.  I thought marine blocks were a heavier casting, but, that might have only been the industrial slant six (or maybe old style hemi's  :shruggy:)

Thanks guys I never thought about the rotation thing, solves that problem. I could have got them for $1000 for the whole boat but sounds like its not worth it :scratchchin:

Maybe if they are like these it might be worth it??  Found these on the web a long time ago.
