Temperature control cable

Yesterday I decided to fix the temperature control in my Charger, has not worked since I bought the car. The old temperature control cable one is bent which I suppose it shouldn't be...? And I supposed the curly wire end should be secured with one of those "push on" cable rod retainers?

If I cannot straighten the old cable out I guess I need to replace it. Any good sources for this? Found it a http://www.classicindustries.com/ but never ordered anything from them before.

Also noticed that the retainers for the cables were not secured with the usual screw. They sit tight as they are, just wondering if they should be held down by a screw? There are holes for them in the bracket so maybe the previous owner forgot to put them back...

You can try heating the cable red hot, straightening it out nicely and rehardening/tempering it. Some butcher tried to fix the air door cable behind it as well. Verify smooth operation before assembly. Screws and push retainers,yes.

Thanks! I got new cable retainers, screws and push retainers. I will try straightening the cable out, will post a pic when I'm done.

You shouldn't have any problem straightening that cable but be careful not to overheat it or it may lose a few strands.  If it fails, it's a pretty generic cable that you can make out of any similar thickness cable but again, you should have no issues getting that one fixed.

I was able to heat it and straighten it out so it is all good now!! Got me new clips and push on retainers so my heater controls are back in working order!
