What is the best tape for masking stripes?

  I want to mask the shiny stripe on my 70 Charger's tail light surround trim when I prime and paint everything black. What tape will give me a crisp clean line?

Fine line tape.  I use the 3M/Scotch mostly but there's others that do a good job.  The thinner you buy, the more curves you can do but the long straights will be tricky so something like 1/4" would probably work best for you.  Use regular masking tape to get about 1/8" from where your paint line needs to be, then take the fine line and tape it OVER the paper tape and onto the line you want.  When the paint is almost dry, remove the fine line and admire the crisp line you created.

3m works good,but lately I've been using some some stuff i found on eBay. It's Orange and nice and thin.
Really holds and bends nice for curves and corners.

The blue 3M Fineline tape is what I've used. Their green FineLine tape is a little thinner but it does not like to bend like the blue stuff.

But now I gotta try some of that K-tape Brian mentioned!

was going to suggest that too blue fine line  used that all the time

  the last bit of fine line you put on is the edge of the stripe , what i always do give it ten minutes of flash off , then as Dino Said peel it off carefully  , then wack  the booth on bake
