Not much of an update but thank sweet merciful god this is over, i hate to work in cramp areas, i was almost tempted to hack out more of the inner fender for access, but i didn't want to compromise the hood hinge

i got a new corvette mastercylinder, a universal proportioning valve for four wheel disc brakes,, bought a couple parts store assembled brake lines and made a couple that couldn't be bought.
Im glad this part is close to being over. I can't say exactly why but i feared making brake lines more than any other part of this car  :smilielol:

Baldwinvette77

i got bored with the silver spray paint i used on the mastercylinder and made some 68 style tailstripes because... why the F not

Not terrible for doing this in the corner of a garage in the rain  :scratchchin:

Baldwinvette77

Shoved it out on the driveway for access to the passenger side, and Finally put together the rear brakes, which i had in my basement for over a year

It may stay here for the week, so i can finish up loose ends and Maybe, just maybe.. set it on fire when i try to start the engine  :coolgleamA:

Car armour... Carmour if you will  :scratchchin:

Was finally able to put these wheel caps on  :coolgleamA:

Even to just hear it Idle  :icon_smile_big:

Ohyeah that too, I wonder what it will sound like  :scratchchin: Maybe a slight rumble, then the sound of sheered metal, and it'll grind to a hault  :drool5:

Baldwinvette77

Well, Ofcourse the week i planed on working on my charger outside had to be the week the road, curb and some of the sidewalks on my street had to be torn up and redone. It didn;t really slow me down too much, but i had a alot of workers and inspectors ask about the car, which lead to 30 minute conversations each

Anyway, i superglued the windshield in, did the exhaust, connected my gas pedal to the Carb. and started to rebuild the front calipers, But i couldn't finish those because the stupid paint was taking too long to dry  :rotz:

Baldwinvette77

Ok, so, i TRIED to rebuild the original cast iron vette calipers, and failed miserably
so then i made the decision (my dad pretty much threatened me to)  spend actual money on my front brakes, so i dropped 600$ on a wilwood caliper kit for the vette & some summit rotors that come from the factory with grooves AND rust holes  :shruggy:

i havent mounted them yet.... i had to um... make some modifications

KITTY FACES!

i also had to use some 1.5" wheel spacers up front for a 15" wheel to clear the caliper

i also stuck on some gto wheels i have because... um...... uhhhhhhh.... im sure i had a reason

Bob

From the first pic until now is amazing. If there would have been 100 cars like yours 99 of the folks would have quit.
Keep it up.

The progress is awesome, but im sure a few people would have built one, it actually wasn't all that bad of a starting point, atleast to me :scratchchin:

so, I bled the brakes and for the first time in who the hell knows the car has the ability to stop, pretty cool considering it never moved in first place  :yesnod:

i also cut some more of the hood to clear the shaker and glued some sliced fuel hose with some leftover windshield adhesive to ..um.... i just thought it was a neat idea actually

and thats all i think i did today  :scratchchin:

Thanks man

Im actually saddened to completely cover them up with the centerlines

Mostly because that much braking on a pizza cutter wheel pretty much cancels everything out

skip68

:2thumbs:  I love those brakes.   Actually, your whole front assembly.

I GOT IT TO RUN!!!!, Although there is video of those glorious 3 seconds its on a neighbours phone who will likely never get around to sending it to me....

anyway, moving forward we ran the engine for about a minute total since the water pump wasn't connected. i got an alternator and mounted it to measured for belts so we could run it for longer.. in theory at least.

i made a weird but leak proof lower rad hose, filled it with coolant to find any other leaks, plugged a couple vacuum ports. and.. thats all i can remember thats worth mentioning.

the wiring harness is for a delco remy alternator, so i picked up one of those

i traded the honda battery, for a truck battery and some speakers.. from a honda   , priorities

i swapped out my homemade distributor holddown with a factory so it was easier to twist the distributor.

so, i just got a distributor from an old speed shop that had it sitting on its shelf since 1983, and them i asked "do you have a hold down for it" and he said "yup, but they ain't cheap, i want 25$ for it" i choked a little, came home with the distributor alone, and made my own hold down, with blackjack, and hookers  :smash:

Sir... if you are quoting Bender.. I award you a million kajillion awesome points...  :Twocents: :Twocents: :Twocents: :Twocents: :coolgleamA:     Also, Kudos dude.. I am loving this build and still have a few more pages to read.. lol.  :popcrn:

EDIT:  Ok.. so I just finished reading this thread (I skipped a few pages in the teens and 20's), and I have to say, I love this build. It's so nice to see a build that is just raw and brutal (in a good way). I absolutely love that you are reusing so many old parts and just making them work. You'd be a great person to have around when the zombie apocalypse starts.   :2guns:   :icon_smile_dead: :cryin: :icon_smile_sleepy:

Baldwinvette77

HAHA, I love bender  i wish i had one during my build, he would have been handy with the rollcage

Thanks man! I hope the zombies appreciate my work even half as much  :coolgleamA:
