Fred

Why do we  leave cars worth thousands of dollars in our driveways and put our useless junk in the garage?

(with the exception of Bryan and myself and possibly a few others)

Because I'm working on the junk and the "thousands" dollar cars can stand to get a little wet. I, on the other hand, melt.

I think people perceive cars to be "outside" items so they leave them in the elements..Then they are suprized when they start to rot away so fast. BUt since when does anybody care enuf to take care of their car? Mmuch easier just to not

Our antique cars are always kept inside a garage with a cover on them.  IF they are ever outside of the garage, it is either at a car show, in which it has a cover on it, or only outside for one night (again with a cover on it) at my house when I am in need of space for a repair or a project inside my garage.

amazes me  , seen loads of nice size garages   piled up with crap ,  the doors been opened as i've driven past etc  , many look like a cross between a firesale & a junkyard  , some you could easily fit 3 chargers plus room for tools & work bench  , yet there is no room to ever walk through sort of thing   seems a waste , guess they not car people  :shruggy:

True, & it also amazes me when someone will convert a garage into living space like another bedroom.   :shruggy:

What the hell for? Just get bunkbeds.

Garages that are "Attatched" to the home tend NOT to be "Man caves"...They tend to be whatever the wifey wants them to be..Many times, it's STORAGE for all Houshold junk...

Poor car has to take outside.

My F150 was built in 2004 and is sealed up tight as a drum against the elements.    If need be I could buy another one just like it for under 10K, and all it is to me is basic transportation which I beat the hell out of and expect to wear out, and then become my 'trash hauler' when I pick up a new daily driver in a few years.   So if it gets rained on, I don't care so much.   Also a Ford pickup isn't very easy or desireable to steal compared to a '68 charger.   Thus the Ford (and my Jeep for that matter) can sit outside all day.

Keeping your daily driver's outdoors so that your classics can occupy the garage is quite acceptable Jim. I've had to do it myself on occasion.
It's all that junk that by rights should be lugged off to the tip that I'm talking about. Useless junk that hasn't seen or will ever see the light of day..........just sitting there, taking up precious space.

ah, my bad.  i have a shed in the back for the junk. :smilielol: but there are a few in my neighborhood that have garages so full you cant walk into them.

i have been driving past a pretty decent orange 69 Camaro parked in the grass in front of a detached garage on a main road for about two years now. My buddy stopped to check it out, not for sale, the best part, the garage is empty ! it's a summer home. The car just sits there, 307 car, but nice shape ( for now )  :flame:
