I found  #s on the trany. The trany looks new and its aluminum. These are  the #s  I found.......
6c 155-485 or the last # may be 80 or 60 or 65 I'm pretty sure its 85 though.

I know my rear is an 8-3/4 and I'm trying to find out the gear ratio . I found a tag held together by 2 screws This tag is not under one of the hold down bolts , its a seperate tag    ..... I will post the number shortly I   forgot it as I am writing this

post.

The # on the tag , on the rear  says....... 2170 . does this number have anything to do with a gear ratio ?

I forgot to add ...for my 1971 charger  SE 383

What kind of transmission? Standard or auto? Where did you find the number?

If you found the number on a raised pad, 6c 155-485 would be the partial VIN of a '76 or '86 car built at the Jefferson plant. An auto trans will have the part number stamped in the pan rail on the drivers side.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yes john, its an auto. The stamping is on a raised pad on the passenger side. It appears to be all aluminum.
I would like to know what it is and if it will be sufficient for the current 383 and any possible future performance  upgrades to my engine.

Again, look on the pan rail on the drivers side, the part number will be stamped there and will tell you the exact application.

Thanks for the picture. I was looking in the wrong place . Thought I read it was on the passenger side.

It was hidden from my view  by the exhaust. I'm working in a tight spot right now. I was able to use one of those cameras with a long flexible cable. Bought it cheap on amizon, worth the investment.

Anyway, here's the #s  PK 4028412 5374 1295

I couldn't find info on these #s when searching 1971 charger transmission.
