I know I know, Another camshaft ID....PLEASE

Ok, I cam across a 71 383 that has been sitting in the machine shop with all new guts, unfortunately the motor is a guy that works in the attached parts house and basically handed the motor to the guy that "used" to be the man in charge down there.  Since he no longer works there, nobody knows what the camshaft is...

I've never ID'd a cam before but have done a bit of research.  I popped the timing chain off and checked for any numbers on the front and came up empty.  After a little more research found the stamp to be on the rear.  So rather than pull everything off the cam, i pulled the freeze plug behind.  The only "letters" I can see are MAP and there is what appears to be an "A" above it.  I'll try to get some pics up.

Thank you for any help.  I'm about ready to yank it out and start over...kinda frustrating.

OK I got the machine shop to dig up the paperwork.  Attaching a pic of the numbers...hopefully somebody can tell me what I can expect out of this cam ...its in a 383  if I haven't mentioned it.  The part number is SPD-11

Ok, I had some help on the compression from someone from summit since I am kinda slow when it comes to that department.  He told me my 383 with 906 heads stock bore (bore is still in question until this weekend) would be somewhere around 9.2:1.  I will be running a Weiand 8008 intake.  And I have these summit headers SUM-G9041.  1 3/4" tube if you don't want to look it up.  Any help is much appreciated.  I love opinions so lets hear em.

The Crower HDP271 is an excellent 383 cam. Also worth considering is the Lunati VooDoo 302 grind. I've recommended both to members building mild 383 combos with excellent results.  :2thumbs:

You guys are great!  I pulled the heads off yesterday...found it does have flat top pistons and it's bored .040.
