DIY for Ram Owners

Ive got a 2006 ram 2500, 4x4, diesel, 4-door. i love the truck but i got tired of putting the keys in my pocket and them not fitting well. i wear wranglers and they are kinda tight. as you can see from the pic its got the tab on the side and it doesn't alow the keys to fold behind the remote.  so i saw my cousins 300 set and like the flip out compact design...... and the buttons are the same....hmmm

so i decided to order a blank flip out key and switch out the remote electronics and get the blank cut.

the issue i ran into was... Lowe's wont cut the key unless you buy it there from them... why IDK, its stupid.  also walmart will not cut it iether bucause they don't have a compentent person working there. (she said they don't have the thingy that holds it in.)  so i went to a locksmith, and he got it cut. now the key works in the ingition but won't open the door. not sure if it needs to be worn down a bit IDK. another issue was this spring that helps flip the key out. its a little bit of a pain to twist it up and then put it all together, hold it and screw together.

but once you get it in and together it works great and its kinda cool to have a flip key thingy... plus it folds up and the other keys fit behind it. the buttons are a little sunk in but i got this off ebag and its a defect one. you can see the buttons are not set center tight. but for 10 bucks and fast delivery i didn't care.
