My 68 driver door mirror flops around. It's securely mounted but the round part flops around and hangs upside down. Took it off the door and looks like no way of tightening it. Tried putting adhesive on the ball that sits inside the bezel that holds the glass to make it hold still but that didn't work. Got it from year one years ago. Is fixable or just time to get a new one? Recommendations? Thanks!

The only trick I've had luck with was the superglue-on-the-ball move. You have to use that type of glue and you have to rotate the ball around while it's wet.

Lots of Youtube videos on the subject...this is just one:

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

this might be of help to anyone whos mirror glass that will not stay i corrected position ( glass loose)
heres what i found with my original door mirror

the ball end of part *C* was not tight in the mirror backing plate socket thingy there was a tiny gap while the adjusting lever that goes through the upper door pad was tight .
not wanting to touch the mirror glass , i carefully removed two of the cables from part *C*  while they was still connected to the mirror back plate , by doing this you can then lift / tilt part*C* ever so slightly to allow a suitably modified plastic vacuum plug or similar to be slid between the ball tip of part *C* & mirror back plate socket .  be careful when doing this its a bit like bomb disposal :scared: at least with mirror glass in place, as you dont or i did not want to cause the cables to pull through the mirror back plate. * disclaimer * i successfully fixed my mirror problem & worked perfect after, bare in mind i may well have forgotten some details was about 25 years ago i done this :scratchchin:  :-\

screen captures are borrowed from this guy channel on youtube repairing his B-body door mirror

Kern Dog

The OP's screen name always brings a smile to my face. We nicknamed a dog Barfyspitz after he proved to have adverse reactions to some dog treats that the other dogs liked.

I used foam ear plugs wedged between the mirror and housing for about 15 years. (Till I found Rally 70 only ones.)

Rally ear plugs?  :scratchchin:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
