How many of the Charger "Wanted" ads do you suppose are "unrealistic"?

Hey now, you got a great Charger.  Who knows how the other would've turned out.  You're commited to make this one your own.  When you get it out of storage, fix the overheating and drive the rubber off of it.

Yes I do and I don't mean to sound like I am bitchin cuz I am dam lucky to own one at all. It was one of the 4spds that I looked at that was sooooo sweet but sooooo not worth it. Someday I will find me a 4spd though. 

When I flew to CA, rented a car, stayed the night and looked at the car the next day, I was met by an arrogant fool, or so he acted... ***** claimed there were no lifts in the town (Auburn) and when I got back to the "retirement home" he met me at (shoulda been a sign right there, when he wouldn't meet at his own location), I pulled the car on the curb, crawled under, and found no numbers on the engine block.

******* lied about the car and the rust, too. I opened the truck, moved the spare transmission, then found the trunk rusted out. There was a piece of sheetmetal over the holes one could stick many fingers through...

Anyways, I'm off subject now... But anyone with a shop in town can get pics.  

Not really, you have a case in point which suggests to others that good pics are a great starting point when looking at any car.  At least you only were out the cost of the trip.

I've posted wanted Ad's on Craigslist and in my local newspaper over the years and bought two Charger's from them, both 68 H code 383 cars from two different people that responded.

You're not bitching.  Are you thinking of selling yours to buy an original 4 speed or do you just want a 4 speed?  Easy enough swap.

No, not thinking of selling. Just want a 2nd Charger.    For some reason I prefer to go with cars that were originally a 4spd. That may change as the years move on though.

No, not thinking of selling. Just want a 2nd Charger.    For some reason I prefer to go with cars that were originally a 4spd. That may change as the years move on though.

I often wonder why there are so many wanted ads too. Any given day on craigslist/ebay/carsonline ect there are numerous cars from basket cases to show stoppers, so there is a good mix on the market for all budgets.


Honestly most ads i feel people are looking for an "unknow" car like grandmas time capsule in the barn that isn't posted anywhere for sale and can be had for 1/2 of what its worth.

I've not had a single response to my wanted ad in over a year that actually meets the criteria I spell out.  I mention color (black), seat (bench/buddy - no console), and condition (done car) as being MANDATORY, yet the few responses I've gotten are "you can paint it" or "just needs body work" or something along those lines.  I wouldn't make these things mandatory in the ad if I would consider all comers.

There is a car on ebay that meets my criteria - but they want $55k for a CLONE.  I've got money, but come on - I'm not paying that for a clone.  Otherwise, I've seen nothing that fits.

Yeah, this is true. About a year or two ago, there was the brown 69 R/T which was listed for around $25k, A no rust car, fresh from a barn in soCal, sitting for over 25 years. But who would spend that kind of money on a brown one  If only it were green...

Both cars were running and driving. One was in 1998 one was in 2005.

Here is a reply I got off my wanted ad a little less than a year ago:

This guy had a '69 R/T SE 440 General Lee and a 1970 Charger 500 383 car, both here in my town not too far away. Never seen these two chargers around town before his reply- I didn't think there were hardly any 68-70 chargers around town then this guy replies with two... he wanted $20k for the general and $13,500 for the '70
