I've been having a recent issue with my ignition on a 68 center council Charger. On occasion when I turn the key I get zero. The ignition switch is new as in most of the car. I am wondering if it could be the park neutral locater switch. Is there a way to put a jumper on it to by-pass it??? I tried up-plugging it but issue still occurs on occasion. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

could be switch in trans, or starter relay on firewall

The Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) supplies a ground for the starter relay in Park and Neutral. The "G" terminal (usually a brown wire) on the relay can be grounded to override the NSS.

When the car won't turn over, try holding the switch in Start with one hand while wiggling the shifter for and aft with the other...if that engages the starter, the linkage may be a little out of adjustment or the plastic bushings in the shift linkage might be worn or missing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I had the same problem after dropping my steering column to remove the dash cluster. It didn't want to start in Park, but starts in Neutral.  I think when I dropped it and bolted it back up it rotated a little.

I haven't attempted to correct it yet, I just start it in Neutral.
