what would cause the a/f to quickly lean out during cruising non highway speeds? if i completly let off the gas the gauge pegs lean and it pops out the exhaust.  at highway speed at 2800-3000 rpm the af is mid 13's till i let off the gas and it pegs lean and pops out the exhaust pretty good.

i got the 4 corner screws out a 1/2 turn each and its idling around af ratio of 14 as it sits. i also lowered the front float to a little under half. it was over half before and it would die when i had to stop the car unless i feathered the gas pedal.  im not sure if the float adjustment fixed it yet i havent had a chance to drive the car yet.

Mike, it sounds like you have a vacuum leak of some kind....check the carb/base gasket/vacuum hoses etc... closely.  :scope:
