Throttle Spring Setup for 73-400 with Holley Street Avenger?

Hi Folks,

What is the correct way to set up the throttle linkage on a 400 with a Holley Street Avenger carb on it? If I recall and from what I've seen on other pictures throughout the forum there should be a return spring from an anchor bracket that bolts to a manifold bolt in front of the carb. There is a groove on the shaft for another spring as well. I'm just not sure if I've got this setup properly. Would an improper setup contribute to driveability issues?

Here's my current setup. It is a '73 with 400.

Thanks,
Adam

There's a Mopar bracket Holly sells to adapt this "universal" setup. That said, I bought it for my 68 383 and couldn't get it to work because the spring was hitting the bracket it was mounted to and popping off to the side at full throttle (a position I plan to use someday). After all was said and done I ended up finding a spot the spring could be mounted to without interfering with anything and drilled a hole there.

I would get the 21-7 linkage adapter first , nothing wrong with the spring being towards the rear below the throttle shaft
