Anyone have any suggestion on ways to find out more about the history of a car.  I was able to decode the fender tag and found a bit of information I didn't know.  The build sheet is no more.  The person I purchased the car from got the car back in the early 80's.  He didn't have room in his garage next to his hemi cars  :'(and let is sit outside until I bought it.  He didn't do anything with it and was unable tell me much, other than it ran when he parked it.  I would like to restore the car for my father.  I would like to make the car as original as I can.  If there was a way to get in touch with the old owners and see what they may remember or if they have pictures is one of the few things I could came up with.  What do you guys think?

That is about your only option.  If you can still get ahold of whoever you got  the car from see how far back he can take you.  Does he know who he got it from?  The DMV would be your next bet.
