Inland shifter boot questions

Can someone (proabably a first gen guy) help me out? According to the FSM there are three shifter boots on a console Inland four speed car: the lower boot where the linkage is housed below the hump, the 'other' lower boot that mounts to the top of the hump and the upper boot, or lever boot, which is rectangular and fits inside the top console plate. I've never seen the middle boot and I think I'd sooner spot Bigfoot than ever see one in the future. So, does anyone happen to have a picture of one? And if you have seen one or own one, how much different is it than a non console upper boot? When I see the drawing of it in the FSM it looks the same as the non console boot so I'm thinking of just using one of those.

yea..use the "non-console" middle boot...nobody is gonna see it anyway.

Do you have the lower boot that goes around the linkage? I have one here, used, but in almost perfect condition. Those are now being re-popped.

The console plate boot has the "round" hole for shifter handle

I've got the linkage boot; grabbed an NOS one just before they started repopping them.

Looks aren't my concern with using a non-console boot in the middle. Mainly I'm concerned about clearance issues. I don't want it rubbing up against the bottom of the console and putting the shifter in a bind.

It shouldn't rub....I had one on my black 66 with the console, but then I changed over to a non-console shifter handle and buddy seat in the car..basically went to 67 style interior

I sent the Hurst boot back to Megaparts to trade for one of the non-console boots. I'm sure it will be fine. :2thumbs:
