Just got my Challenger back after some paintwork which more or less turned into a top half respray, my questions are, is there a certain time I should wait before washing the car ? Also should I wait a certain time before polishing it ? And also is there a certain time I should wait before putting an outdoor car cover on the car ? Thanks

what paint was used  ? did they paint it in a spraybooth & bake it ?

would never use a car cover that actually touches the paint  :Twocents:

if it was done professionally. I assume it was baked.

You SHOULD be able to wash the car right away.  Try and and keep it as clean as possible, when you wash it , make sure you dry it ( no water spots)  Depending on the clear coat used,  most clear coats are pretty much built proof a week after painted. I would wait probably a month before waxing as there can still be some small amount of solvents still being released, you DO NOT want to trap these against the paint.

I would probably leave a cover off it for a month to, air flow is your friend to ensure your clear coat is fully cured

Hudson Hornet !

DuPont reccommends 90 days before any wax goes on the surface of the paint.  What paint system was used?
You've never heard of a Hudson hornet ? !

In a month or so I'll be getting my 69 Charger unibody back home freshly painted.  I won't be able to work on it for several months after that.  I don't want dust settling on it in the garage.  I was thinking about getting a indoor type cover to put over it.  Should I wait a certain period of time before I put the cover on?  The paint place doesn't bake the paint.  The paint will be base coat/clear coat.

Don't put a cover on it.  The whole idea of paint curing is that it releases solvents.  It will continue to do so for a while.  Leave the cover off.  The dust can be removed with a California duster or air pressure.  It has no place to stick on a freshly painted car.

What do you mean the shop doesn't bake the paint??  It takes months for paint to cure without baking and then still you need to be real careful.  If that paint is not cured then a simple raindrop can leave a mark so I hope your down south where you can put it out in the sun for a while!

Very odd to not bake the paint...
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Low Budget shops never bake the paint. I've worked at shops that I would get done just before lunch so I could bake the paint while I was out to lunch. The second I left for lunch the boss would turn off the oven & booth to conserve/save the money it cost to run it. Cheap Bastard. Then I'd come back not knowing why paint was not dry? LEON.

No doubt after that he'd be on you to hurry up and get it finished?

I hate people like that.  But, they're the ones with the name on the sign
