New CAFE Standards Announced

I did not see this mentioned on here.  It seems to me this was quietly done.  By 2025 auto makers are to be at 55 mpg. Last I read they were going to have a hard time meeting the 33 mpg by 2016.

I know it will be difficult not to get political on this matter as it is the government who is doing this to us.  But I am asking to keep bashing at a minimum so the thread does not get locked.

So what happens to cars such as the old american muscle cars that cant get that? ARe they going to banned?

I see a incraes in values on old muscle cars in 2016 a big sudden jump.....

Nope.

If I remember correctly , this is why Chrysler had the PT Cruiser listed at a truck.  ::)  It had such good fuel mileage, it lowered the truck average down enough for them to meet CAFE standards then.
