Are they the same (other than the chrome strip that goes right around the 70)?

Or is there a difference in shape between the 2/size of the 2.

a 70 charger with the chrome strip off the tailights or a 69 with it off... any difference?

What about the rear panel of car... is that the same just difference in lights or is the metal also slightly shaped different...?

Yes....the '70 tailight has a reflector in it where the '69 tailight dosent. Here's a pic of my car..the right one is a '70...the left one is a '69

I thought the 70 didnt have that funny line in the middle that the 69 has.... Im confused.

Only the 70's built after 1/1/70 have the reflector

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Just 6T9 CHGR

AND only the 70 base model XH cars have the grey stripe

Funny line?  I love that grey line. :icon_smile_tongue: :2thumbs:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

So

Me sticking a 70 rear tail light on a 68 charger or 69 rear tailight....

I dont want reflector, I dont want that grey line that kinda splits the lights in 2 parts.

What am I after doing exactly?

And can it be found what I am after... ?

I will most probbably have the chrome strip that goes right around (like the 70) but i may leave it off... help me out cause i dunno what im after.

I've read that the red plastic taillight reflector for the 69 has been repoped and is now available.  The chrome trim piece that goes around the outside of the reflector is available from BEA Mopar Parts.

So would my left be off of a 70?

Actually, not trying to split hairs here, but the left taillight is from a base model (XH) 70 Charger, the right one is from a 1969. 1970 500's & R/T's had no chrome trim around the lens itself, instead they used a one piece aluminum trim piece like this...

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Never knew that about the base models, thanks.

My friend had a original 1970 X9 burnt orange 383 4 speed bench charger .Had the 69 type tail lights. No square reflectors in tail lights or finish panel

No trim panel would be correct if it was an XH model but I don't know about the taillights.  Was it a very early build unit and they possibly used up some left over 69 ones.

The parts book shows 4 pairs of part numbers for a 70 Charger. There was a change in Jan/70 (as already mentioned earlier by Plumcrazy)
This may or may not be of help. :scratchchin:

EDIT: Just looked in the 69 parts book. Only 1 pair of numbers, #2932824/5, same numbers as the 3rd ones down for 70. So looks like some 70's had the same lights as a 69.

Those appear to have more to do with the finish than anything else.  Was the reflector portion a federally mandated thing?  When did it become law if it was one?
