I have a question about my engine's number that thus far i have found a few details just from this forum but need some help still

engine # PM318R26631452

PM i know is the plant
318 is engine size
R is regular
and i know the first 4 numbers are the manufacture date???
and the last 4 are production???
how do i decode these numbers so i know?

Jason

*EDITED* changed it from VIN to engine so doesn't confuse anyone, sorry

I think you need to look at the vin a little closer
VIN is only 13 characters long

This plage should help
http://www.degeneratepress.com/newport/vin66-74.htm#1972

Looks like you may have a 72 block out of a plymouth Fury

@ChargerSteve: Thank you for that link however that took me to car VIN #'s but I am looking for an engine VIN #

doctor4766

A VIN is a Vehicle Identification Number not an engine number
Gotta love a '69

ChgrSteve67

the VIN of the car and the number on the block is suppose to match.
If it does not then its not the original motor for your car.

The VIN / Engine number is located on the passenger side towards the front of the motor just above the oil pan.

PM318R26631452

PM= Plant Mound Road
318= Displacement
R= Regular fuel
2663= Build date November 11, 1968 (a '69 engine)
1452= Sequence number, the 1452nd built that day
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
