Anyone here make biodiesel? Which kit do you have? Does it pay for itself. I have diesel truck and consider getting a kit and make biodiesel at home.

Nope, we buy it, for $2.50 a gallon.  We get 300 gallons at a time.

I looked into making it, but it just seems like a big mess to deal with & it takes a fair amount of free time to make the stuff. Free time to fool with that is something that I don't have.

When diesel is over $4/gal I would definitely be interested in making it so that I can have it for $1.50 or whatever it costs to make at home.

Sure, it "only" costs something like $6500.00 for the "Maker" you have to buy....Of course, then there's the price of used Veggie oil going up(You know as soon as many people figure out how to make this sh*t, the price of used Veggie oil won't be free much longer.) They will figure it out people. All of a sudden, used Veggie oil is $1.60/gal.

No cheap ways around the Fuel...Just take it up the wazzoo like the rest, and figure out how to build hybrids.

Here's one for $2400.00...Of course, you have to keep buying the "Supplies" to keep producing fuel.

Here's local one http://spokane.craigslist.org/for/3172062704.html $900
You can make one yourself, it's not complicated.
As far as supplies you need some lye $5 from hardware store and some methane and of course veggie oil from your local BK.

Yep, a bunch of gearhead fabricators should be able to do that and save most of the initial start-up $$
