We need to replace the windshield and rear window glass in our 68 Charger. Both appear to have a slight tint in them (light green) but we aren't sure if they are tinted or not. We of course want them to match the rest of the window glass.

In block 52 of the build sheet under the heading TINTED OR CLEAR GLASS is the number 2. Can anyone tell me if the number 2 represents tinted or clear glass.

Thanks, RHM,Jr.

Not sure of the Broadcast Sheet coding of a '68 but usually on the glass itself it will say TINT where the date code is etched in the glass....at least for '69 it does...

522 = Tinted Windshield only. A number "1" (521) Would be Tinted All Windows. Like Not Just 68 Charger posted above - The word TINT would be on the glass if it is original  Chrysler glass. In this case, if your windshield is original, it would say TINT on it.

Many thanks for the info provided. Armed with it I rechecked the old glass. The windshield is labled as "tint shaded" and the back glass says nothing about tint. Both pieces are Chrysler glass. It looks like I need a tinted windshield and a clear back glass.

This is the only source I know of for new glass. Do you have any other recommended sources?

ECS and OEM Glass are 2 that come to mind.

Do not use PS Auto glass,   I have $900.00 of glass from them, that are to thick to install ''side widows''
Back window is so warped it would never seal, and they will not deal with me at all, because it was
just over a year when I found out about these problems, plus the stamping on the glass was way wrong.

I then went to AMD, and have had great luck, everything fits as it should, and the stamping is very close
to original.

I bought my glass four years ago, and a year later when the side glass was to thick
to fit, I called them and they could not evan remember who they were getting there
glass from ''one year back''

You had good luck

I had bad luck

Just like the exhaust situation.

I had great luck with PS Auto Glass,  I got the rear glass in tinted for $100, it fitted great by using the foam dam method, Front windshield $125.
I then was not happy with my factory door side glass as it was badly scratched  so I asked them a heap of questions about there glass being warped or wavy, tint shade exactly the same as factory  ( as it has to match the quarter glass) and about the fit,   PS  assured me it was great glass,, cost me $175  each, they packed it really well and shipped to me in Australia.
I Installed it and am very pleased with it, I honestly can not fault it.
The rear glass I noticed was made in  South America and the side glass was made in Thailand.

I have never used PS Glass, but have bought correct dated and coded glass for restoration projects in the past. The prices that you guys were quoting for windshields and rear glass is very inexpensive, so I would not be surprised if you had problems with warping, customer service, thickness. Classic situation you get what you pay for. JMO.

I have used OEM with good results.

The PS Auto glass is not date coded, you can get the date transfers from other vendors.
I honestly could not fault the glass  and I am fussy, maybe I got lucky this time :shruggy:

I got vent window glass from Dave at ECS. They look perfect with the correct dates codes and logos. Daves is a joy to deal with. They are not cheap but the best.

Wow, rear glass prices at PS Glass sure have gone up since Chris (Just 6T9 CHGR) posted he paid $165 for rear glass. I just looked at their web site and they have it listed for $400 now

Any other recommended sources? I don't care about date coding.
