Hi! I had a oilpump failure and now there's a broken main bearing and 4 broken rod bearings. now i wonder what the stamps mean?
The rod bearing says:  H24
                               4 72

And the main says:    f
                             4 72

What does this tell? i need new ones (car has to run by Friday)
How do i See if i need under/oversize?
Engine is a 440 cast NR 3698830. and the crank is??? well its a forged one.

Hope for quick help.

4 72 is the manufacture date April 1972, the rest is vendor codes. They are standard sized bearings but only a measurement with a mike can tell the journal size now.

If you're in a hurry, just throw standard bearings in and hope for the best. What does the crank surface look like?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thank you for the answer. this will be a fast fix for now, I'm planning on a full restore after season.
The crank looks pretty good except on the 4th rod connection (some small scratch you fell with fingernail.)
Do you think that i can polish the surface and make it run (quiet)? I'm not planning on racing, just cruising over the summer.
