Wrote a book?

Any of you long time users written a book or started one & not finished it due to the unknown of how it would turn out or just scared of the what if?
I'm 44 now and I could write a book starting from scratch more-less start from the mid 80's and have one hell of a storyline/book intrest!
Hey, I'm out of work body tech/painter with 25 year plus year's experience right now & just thinking outside the lines, any & all comments welcomed!

My Ol' lady has written two books that have been published.

It's a long shot for sure.  But keep in mind that there's a book series out there now called 50 Shades of Grey.   It started as internet fanfiction of Twilight.  For those not familiar, fanfiction is basically REALLY crappy stories written by fans of a particular book or movie. For those not familiar with Twilight, it's a horrible book series written by a 35 year old woman with a teen vampire fetish.   No, i'm not kidding, Google it up.

Fanfiction 99% of the time is what a reader wishes two characters in a book WOULD have done, and this woman wrote about the teens from Twilight if they'd been involved in S&M and bondage.  Again, I'm not kidding.   So the book publisher made the girl change the names (and get rid of the vampire plot line), and it's sold umpteen copies.   My wife just got done reading it.

In short, a horrible book by a horrible author about teen vampires somehow catches fire and is made into like 12 movies.    As if that weren't miraculous enough, some internet fan writes bad bondage porn about it, and THAT book is published, and soon they'll make movies about it.  Seriously, I stole my wife's copy and read the first 10 pages or so.   An 8th grader can write better.

The moral:  Write your book, but make sure it appeals to teen girls who are into fangs and spankings.  This is the way to make money even if you've never written anything before.

I wrote a book once. It was full of how not to do things. Nobody bought it.
They all wanted to find out the hard way by making their own mistakes.

my sister went to school for many years for journalism.  basically as somebody allready said above, and to quote her university professor, get a job and do the book part time.  So it's not meant to be easy but since you're out of work what the heck!  just don't let it discourage you, just keep trying.

I was talking to Larry L one time at a show about his Charger Restoration book he wrote. Very interesting to hear the business side of things. I think he made a little money in the beginning but now has really no control over the book and its printing.

I've written 3 books. All non-fiction (on the law). At least 2 more are pending, as well as 3 more to finish out the first series.

I haven't seen any money so far, but I'm very new to the game. Over the years, it might add up.
