The late '70's B Bodies, Cordoba, Magnum, etc. that came with T-Tops...

Did they have any structural bracing under the car ?

Was there a reinforcement panel welded to the underside of the roof ?

Was the T-Top installation done on the assembly line, or afterwards

by an aftermarket installer?

Does anyone have any photos they can post of the interior of the roof

of one of these T-Top cars without the headliner installed ?

I can't speak for late Bs, but G bodies had a doorjamb sticker from the t top installer. As far as I know the framework for the top is the only reinforcement added. The top frame is a stamped and spot welded clamshell strucure. It is extremely rigid. It is held in with large pop rivets. I'm talking large on the order of the same rivets they use to assemble walls and skin of big rig trailers. Hold on, I'll grab a couple of pics of my G body stuff. It may help you understand how it all goes together.

One thing I can tell you is that you don't want any part of installing t roofs into a car that does not have them. It took me two weeks to do it to an 85 Turbo Z.  I honestly had no idea what a nightmare it would be.

Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.
Thank you,    Kenny

which project is headed toward the t tops? :shruggy:

A friend has a Cordoba that we've always talked about putting a set of t-tops on, Of course, since apparently I've been appointed head customizer/fabricator around here, that means I do the work, and he watches and drinks my beer ::)

He might have a donor roof lined up.

Trying to figure out what would be involved with doin' the 'Doba.

how cool. it would be lucky if you only need the roof. the bracing would already be there. good luck. and if your buddy needs help with his part, im available to watch and drink your beer also. :2thumbs:

My advice... Cut the roof at the seams and swap the whole thing out.
The late B will be a much easier install than a G body. The late B did not have aircraft style doors that need to have the window frames chopped off. The area where the window frame seals on a G body is then covered with about 10,000 different pieces of moulded plastic and rubber seal all held together with screws and windshield urethane.

My pics turned out for spit, but here they are. Might have to drag them up out of the basement to get better pics. Lord where did all this crap come from? Is it sitting there breeding?!!!

These are the "good" pics. I'm going to need to expend real effort to get better ones.

Thanks for the pictures. :2thumbs:

Kinda gives me an idea of what I'm up against.

No need to dig the stuff out for better pics.

The late "B" body should be much simpler. :coolgleamA:

I swear my junk breeds too. :eek2:
