Yea, but I don't recall that form fitting hard plastic design being factory.

How do you know its plastic?They were metal,unless that is a repo,in plastic.The ones I have are metal originals.

I've had them on two of my 68s and I swear they were plastic. They were riveted to the frame I believe. I don't have them around any more to check. Could they have changed the design over the years? The other "access covers" are metal.

Those are the K frame splash shields.  And yes, they get attached to the rail by two large headed pop rivets.

I've had one of those sitting in my garage not knowing where it goes. I knew it fit my Charger but had no clue what it was for, Thanks.

As said before, not technically a starter shield as it was meant to prevent water from splashing up onto the automatic trans linkages and freeze in winter.

Correct, I don't, Just assumed.    I also thought that they were simply rubber or some other flexible guard not nice and form fitting like that. Recall pics of that somewhere too.
