As the title states....should I remove the extremely rotten rails or rebuild them and keep the rails?

Remove the rails
Keep/repair the rails

Hi guys and gals!!

I'm about ready to commence work back on the Charger again and am stuck on where to go and what to do.

The drip rails are completely stuffed (rusted out). I am doing a slight restomod and am trying to decide whether or not to keep the drip rails.

If I decide to remove them, how do I re attach the new roof skin?

What I would like if you can help, is for those that have removed the drip rails, can you please post pictures from front to back on what the roof looks like (especially the A pillar and rear corner of the rear window).

I did notice Patronus has a black car with what looks like the rails removed (which is the look that I am after)

I would keep them. If your going for a stock car look you could get rid of them but adding them later would be harder. It could also hurt resale value slightly if you decide to sell later..

Fred

Of course it's all just a matter of preference and each to his own but I would keep them. I like the look of chrome on black.  :Twocents:
Plus if you haven't got good roof rail seals you will have problems in the rain.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

I voted to cut them. Just because you say they're gone, an probably just easier.. As long as you go with flush glass for the
windshield.. :popcrn:

I like the look better with the driprails on.  Erasing them looks more modern, but modern does not always equal cooler in my book.

Look at my resto thread. We had to change the drip rails and even a portion of the inner frame underneath that was rusted out. There is a pic without the rails.

For my build I kept them, but looking back on it I wish I took them off.

Pardon me for being a vulture but if you have the drip rail SS trim, I'd buy them from you. Just sayin'

I'll keep that in mind. They are not in the best condition (dented and one is bent slighlty out of shape)

Either way it is going to be more work that I particulary don't want to do  :brickwall:
