7 1/4 rearend

would the right axle be 3/4" longer than the left axle.i bought a 34 ply street rod with a 273 hipo,904,and i think a 7 1/4.the guy i got the car from thinks it came from a ply scamp.my problem is the right tire is sticking out about 3/4" more than the left tire.i had new springs made from the originals.the center bolt of the springs line up perfect with the hole in the spring perchs.tire clearence was the same with the old springs,right tire sticking out farther than left tire.i drove the car 280 miles home with my son in law following and he said the car tracks straight.just drives me nuts when i look at it.i've heard a 8 3/4 with big bolt pattern from a a body would work,but they are hard to find around the pgh,pa area.anyone have any info.thanks.tom
