Clovis/Fresno, CA. area mechanics?

Hello everyone:

New to the boards. I recently (a few days ago) bought a '68 Charger and I was wondering if anyone knew any reliable, reputable mechanics in the Fresno/Clovis, CA. area.
The car is in great shape, but it will need some work with some of the wiring, interior, new brakes, etc.

I guess I'm looking for someone who knows his Chargers and can help me make this thing even better. Sadly, I lost the only family member I had who knew how to wrench, so I'm kind of on my own.

Specific area of the country, I know, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Welcome! Nice year for a Charger (yeah, yeah, I know, they're all good!  ). There are a number of members in the Central Valley area, so I'm sure they'll weigh in. If you are ever in the Bay Area I could hook you up. Good buy!

I'm up in Sac so Fresno is a bit out of the way.

Best thing to do if no one here points you to someone is go to a few local car shows or local muscle car clubs and ask them who they would recomend.

You might even make a few friends that know how to turn a wrench and can help you do what you need to do.

After all that is what really makes this hobby fun.

In all seriousness, thank you for the advice. I've always tried to go to the shows, but never really had much input or a "worthwhile" reason to bug the guys with the cars, you know?

I grew up in Clovis, and still live in the outlying foothill area. Welcome to the San Joaquin (BIG) Valley!
Most of the old timer mechanics that I grew up around during the 70's are all retired. I did talk to a guy
in Fresno the other day (Dave @ Performance Engineering) who sounded pretty promising. Said he raced Mopars
back in the 60's...Might try him?

I'll have to look him up. I'm going to have a new Holley Street Avenger put on my 383 and want it installed and tuned correctly. Best person I came up with quality and price wise was All Out Performance in Fresno. They said they would install the carb for 1 hour ($85) and dyno tune it for $300. Everyone I have talked to about them has recommended them.

I'm in Sacramento theres a good restoration/mechanics list. gearhead garage they are in sac area and was on that one TV show with pros vs. Joe's and had to build a custom corvette and won both of the corvettes. car warriors that's the shows name they are good people if they give you a quote they never go over. (at least my experience)

Hi Drew.

I bought my first Charger at 15 and towed it home. There was a local organization that put people together with Senior Citizens so that they could earn part time retirement funds, and that's how I got started down the Mopar path. He was happy to have some extra cash, he was willing to spend the extra time letting me "help", and I could afford him.

Ralph Zmuda was his name, and I owe him a lot more than I could have ever paid him!  Thanks, again Ralph 

Maybe you can find something similar in your area?
