i'm looking at my superbee hood which ive had for 22 years and noticed on the underside that there were holes welded closed that appear to have been for an r/t hood i assume, before i sell it could somebody possibly explain what type of hood i have, im not talking about the holes in the insert, in the hood itself. And i'm curious will this hood fit my 74 charger without any issues?

Hmmm. The holes are too close for the 3 factory callout pins. Previous owner may have added another emblem or hood scoop?

I do think that used to be a R/T hood.. The position of the 440magnum or 440sixpack callouts look appropriate. This is from Johnny's website of '71s... Notice the pins for the callout... Look on the passenger side, seem to be the same positions.

The opening for the R/T louvers and Superbee insert are the same...........

:iagree:  It looks exactly like the hole spacing for call-outs. I can get you measurments to compare if you like.  :Twocents:

71_charger_r/t, that would be greatly appreciated, just so know for piece of mind.

Here's some pics showing the spacing and location.... Also, I missed your question about fitting your '74 without problems. It is an exact fit. Bolt it on and enjoy. Obviously that exact hood was not available in '74 but the "Powerbulge" hood without the hole for the insert and no vents at the back was. But to answer your question, YES it does fit without issues.

thank you very much for the measurements and pictures, i'm probably going to use the hood now instead of selling it.

I wouldn't sell it even if you decide to find a '74 hood. You'll be hard pressed to find one (reasonable) to replace it if you wanted it again. If nothing else, it makes cool wall art! '73 and '74 hoods are much more reasonable still, but will probably be going up as time rolls by.
